MINISTRY OF SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
We are a group of people who are actively involved in spiritual direction and supervision who seek to encourage and support others who feel called to this ministry.
WHAT IS SPIRITUAL DIRECTION?
Spiritual direction is a relationship in which a director through deep listening enables and empowers the directee to reflect on their spiritual journey and explore a deeper relationship with God.
WHAT IS THE AIM OF THE COURSE?
The aim of the course is to enable you to deepen your own spiritual experience and to provide you with the skills and insights needed to accompany others.
IS IT FOR ME?
Do you feel called to this ministry? Are you already engaged in this way, but feel that you need more guidance and knowledge? Have you been asked to undertake a ministry of spiritual direction; however informal this might be?
WHAT DOES THE COURSE INCLUDE?
As a course member you will have an opportunity to:
Look at yourself and your developing spiritual life
Develop the qualities and skills to enable you to help others on their spiritual journey
Explore something of the history of prayer and spirituality and how this is relevant for spiritual direction today
Be open to the importance of working reflectively.
You will be expected to engage with your own material and experience, both individually and in small groups with a tutor; and show willingness to be honest with yourself and with each other.
